Intake 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to The Harlington and Sundon Academy Trust

I am delighted to be able to warmly welcome you and your child to The Harlington and Sundon Academy Trust. Our Academy is a partnership of two schools. We work with the community, trustees, staff and parents to create a safe and happy environment where every child achieves their maximum potential.

Our school is currently responding to the Coronavirus pandemic and as such, our welcome and transition process will be different to previous years. However, we are committed to make your child’s entry into our school smooth, supportive and successful. I look forward to getting to know you and your child. Our school has extremely positive relationships with children, parents and all members of our community and we look forward to building this relationship with you. By working together, we can provide firm foundations for an enjoyable and ambitious learning journey for your child and working in partnership to support and nurture your child’s experiences and education over the coming years.

The Harlington and Sundon Academy Trust strives to offer a curriculum that gives children the best possible start to their education by developing their independence, curiosity, imagination and desire to learn; we want children to leave our school with a collection of memorable learning experiences. The Academy endeavours to provide a stimulating learning environment, offering a variety of high quality and exciting learning opportunities and experiences within a broad and balanced curriculum. The curriculum promotes our common values whilst recognising and valuing our differences within school and the wider community.

You should have already received administration forms and consent forms by email from Mrs Cullis, our Office Manager. These forms were emailed to parents on Wednesday 5th May. The contact forms are required so that we can add your child to the school administration system. Please return these as soon as possible if you have not already done so.

Further information on the Early Years Unit will be added to our school website for you to view on line.

Supporting Transition

Ensuring a supportive transition for your child is our absolute priority. In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have made some changes to our usual procedures. We continue to follow guidance from the DfE and Local Authority and rest assured the safety and well-being of staff and children are our key priority however, please be aware that any plans may be subject to change. Our proposed transition procedures are as follows:

Home/ Garden visits Monday 19th July and from Monday 6 th September 2021 to Wednesday 8th September 2021. Our current Early Years Teacher will visit you and your child in your home. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to meet their Teacher in their own home and find out all about them.

  • Staggered Intake to Reception
  • Thursday 9th September 2021 - Group 1
  • Monday 13th September 2021 – Group 2
  • Wednesday 15th September 2021 - Group 3 Group 3 will be joining the two other groups so all children are in class together.

We have planned a structured programme to support your child as they begin their journey into school. We also recognise that children may have had a significant period not in an educational setting due to previous lockdowns and we want to make this special time starting Reception both exciting for your child and as seamless as possible. We are grateful for your support in this. These dates and timings remain subject to change dependent on the easing of lockdown measures and the progression of Covid-19. We will communicate any changes to you.

Your sincerely
